Elementary Dentistry is a learning journey created for dentists who believe that strong clinical dentistry begins with a strong understanding of the fundamentals.
Successfully running since 2023, Elementary Dentistry has grown into a structured learning program built around functional occlusion, clinical reasoning and occlusion-driven dentistry. With two batches successfully completed and graduated, the program continues to bring together dentists who are keen to strengthen their fundamentals and deepen their understanding of clinical dentistry.
The philosophy is simple:

Under the mentorship of Dr. Jyoti C. Bhasin, Elementary Dentistry brings together concepts, clinical case discussions, demonstrations and hands-on learning to help dentists connect what they learn with what they see and do in everyday practice.

It is a space where dentists can bring their cases, ask questions, discuss challenges and find practical solutions together.
This module lays the basic groundwork for FMR by covering key topics and understanding joint and Muscle Exams and their disorders, Making Centric Records and functional tooth anatomy. The hands-on sessions include mastering impression techniques, fabricating deprogrammers and understanding the use of semi-adjustable articulators. Participants also learn how to conduct Dawson's Bi manual pal patio and load test the joint, they become proficient in foundational diagnostic and treatment protocols and also basic composite restorative procedures.
Designed to demystify occlusion, this module teaches an in-depth about the nuances of occlusion, the types of interferences, the signs and symptoms of occlusal disease and their minimally invasive management for participants to use in Daily Dentistry. The practical segment of this module introduces to the participants the use of split casts, permissive splints, and occlusal equilibration. The dentist understands occlusal principles and how to balance bites and improve patient and restorative longevity and functionality.
The module stitches all the practical and theoretical knowledge provided earlier. It sticks it in to how to precisely plan treatment onto the articulator and then how to transfer it into the mouth. Focusing on additive dentistry and subtractive techniques along with aesthetic, prosthetic and orthodontic options.
The practical exercises include how to get wax-ups and integrate treatment planning protocols to temporization and occlusal adjustments and eventual outcomes. Since Dr. Jyoti has been working on a completely digital platform, it is easy for her to integrate this knowledge and teach all this in the current Digital scenario.
It isn't about simply learning another technique.
It is about learning to observe, analyse, plan and execute with greater clarity.
From understanding the relationship between the TMJ, muscles and occlusion, to applying occlusal principles in restorations, equilibration, anterior guidance, additive dentistry and full-mouth rehabilitation — the program encourages dentists to look beyond individual teeth and understand the patient as a complete functional system.
